No mast on Jackdaw Lane

Objecting to the proposed 5G mast on Jackdaw Lane (AGAIN!)

STILL TIME TO OBJECT!

Deadline: Tuesday 11 July 2023

Despite HDC's negative response to the operator's pre-application, the operator (Three) has gone ahead with the next stage of the application process.

In short, for those who previously objected, this means you need to resubmit your objection. Your previous objection has really helped, so please do object again! - it will make a real difference.

Please see below for details on how to object, along with how to re-submit you previous objection if you made one. All objections must be submitted by Tuesday 11 July 2023.

Multiple objections from the same address are allowed so feel free to submit an objection from each member of your household.

As residents of Jackdaw Lane and the surrounding areas, we object to the construction of a 5G mast in such a densely populated area.

The proposed mast would be 15m (50ft) in height - over twice as tall as the surrounding homes, and towering above the local trees - and would dominate the skyline of the local area and beyond. Situated just meters from local homes and accompanied by 3 large unsightly utility cabinets, it would be an eyesore for the local community.

Despite Horsham District Council objecting to a 'pre-application' for the same mast from the same operator (thanks in no small part to the previous objections submitted), the operator has ignored this feedback and has now submitted a full application. Because this is a new application the objections previously submitted have now expired and are not valid against the latest application. This means that if you previously objected you need to object again.

Previous objections have really made a difference so please do object again!

To see the new planning application details on the Horsham District Council website, please visit DC/23/1126. In particular:

If you would like to object, please follow the steps below to object to Horsham District Council.

If you objected previously: due to the nature of the process, previous objections must be resubmitted to the new case number. You will need to follow the steps below again, but you can view your previous objection here which you should be able to copy and paste under the new link below. If you need any help with this please contact me using the details at the bottom of this page.

Step 1 - Write your objection

The bullet points below satisfy the design and siting grounds Horsham District Council could object the mast application on.

Decide which of the points (all/some) you want to include and put them in your own words:

  • 15 metre (50 ft) high mast and the 3 associated cabinets would be highly visible and incongruous to the surrounding area.
  • Located within 5 meters of 3 residential properties and their gardens, and located within 50 meters of an additional 30+ more.
  • Highly prominent in the vicinity, the proposed mast would be positioned at the top of a slope, visible as far as North Heath Lane.
  • Walking route for pedestrians using the footpath.
  • In the immediate area, there is limited street furniture comprising a bus stop and lamp posts, all of which are significantly smaller that the proposed 15m mast.
  • It would create a stark and unsympathetic contrast to the domestic scale of the existing development in this locality.
  • Proliferation of clutter to the street scene and on this path further exacerbating the negative impact of the proposal.
  • There is a wide availability of more suitable alternative locations.
  • As part of the proposal other sites have been considered and deemed unacceptable for reasons that include proximity to residential housing and the compromise to the street scene, so why is this not the case for Jackdaw Lane?
  • Alternative sites have not been properly considered.
  • An overbearing and intrusive feature when viewed from nearby residential properties causing harm to the outlook of residents.
  • Parental concerns over proximity to schools, nurseries and playgrounds.

PLEASE NOTE: HDC cannot take health considerations into account when deciding whether to decline mast proposals. We know lots of people are passionate about this subject so please ensure if you are raising health concerns you lead with points relating to the siting and location of the mast otherwise your objection may be discounted.

Step 2 - Send to Horsham District Council

Objections must be submitted by Tuesday 11 July 2023, but the sooner the better.
